Description

The Big Idea :

“Sculpted Serenity on the Edge”
A home that melds seamlessly with Carmel’s rugged cliffs and windswept shores, offering an intimate dialogue between architecture and the natural landscape. This residence embodies the essence of coastal living—raw, refined, and timeless—while framing breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

Client Aspiration :

To create a one-of-a-kind retreat that celebrates the rugged beauty of Carmel’s coastline. The home should provide a sanctuary that feels both grounded and ethereal, with spaces that connect deeply to nature while offering understated elegance and modern comforts for family gatherings and quiet reflection.

Our Guidance :

Landscape Integration: Carefully positioning the home to harmonize with the natural contours of the cliffside, using terraces and native landscaping to blend the architecture with the rugged terrain.

Materiality and Texture: Employing a tactile palette of natural stone, reclaimed wood, and weathered metals to echo the textures of the surrounding environment while ensuring durability and timeless appeal.

Frame the View: Designing each space to maximize the unique vantage points of Carmel’s coastline, with floor-to-ceiling windows, cantilevered decks, and intimate outdoor spaces that invite the ocean into the home.

Sustainable Living: Incorporating renewable energy sources, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient systems to respect and preserve the pristine coastal ecosystem.

Atmospheric Design: Creating spaces that evoke a sense of calm and wonder, from a cliffside infinity pool that merges with the ocean’s horizon to cozy interiors that invite fireside conversations amidst panoramic views.
